The Long Road Back To God

Many Christians have a difficult time in trying to live in the manner that God has designed for them. The speed of live in this day and age seems to give us very little time to stop and think about the things that we do and in the way that we do them.

With the pressures of working, if one is fortunate enough to be employed, medical needs, and all of those other bills that have to be paid, we sometime may slip away from God. Sometimes, life's trials and tribulations become so great that we simply forget that God is on our side and we then go off in our own directions attempting to fix our problems all by ourselves. Sometimes, as in my case, it may take years or even decades before we come back to our senses, and to the God we left behind while all hell was breaking loose.

I am attempting to make my way back in to the loving arms of the one and only true God, and it has been no easy endeavor to do so. At least, not for myself.

After 3 decades of attempting to do everything all by myself, and having very little success, I am coming home to the Lord with my tail between my legs, and most certainly somewhat humbled by the experiences that I have put myself through. I may not be yet as humbled as I ought to be, But I will get there.

Heb 10:36  For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Patience, or lack thereof, has always been a major issue for me, as I want things done now, not later on. I have the same problem with God many times as I sometime feel that He does not move fast enough for my taste. This can become a major roadblock for a Christian who attempts to make his way back into the presence of God, and who feels as if maybe God is not listening to them. I have felt that way more times than I care to admit to. There are also times when I wondered what the will of God was concerning my life when all that I needed to do was to just open up His book of instruction and read/study it. Listening for that peaceful, quiet, calm voice of His after having prayed for a sign of guidance might also be a great idea.

Hebrews 10:36

Ye have need of patience - Having so great a fight of sufferings to pass through, and they of so long continuance. God furnishes the grace; you must exercise it. The grace or principle of patience comes from God; the use and exercise of that grace is of yourselves. Here ye must be workers together with God. Patience and perseverance are nearly the same.(Adam Clark’s commentary)

Next time, I give you a taste of just how complicated life can get when you decided to move out of God’s house, and into your own. It can get real messy.
