The Long Road Home To God
This is basically the next chapter from my previous posting, and, this may continue for some time. Over the past 3 decades I have most surely been way to hard-headed, stubborn, and way to proud of myself to even think of letting God take control over me and my life, as I came to believe that I was doing pretty well on my own even when things were going downhill, so I figured that I’d let God go and help someone else. That was being hard-headed on my part, and it was a very bad thing to do. That was also flat-out stupid on my part because I had been pretty much getting all that I ask for from God, without fail. There I was out in Tucson, Arizona trying to find any type of employment while life was crashing down around me when a gentleman who was sitting at a bus-stop asked me if I believed in Jesus Christ as I was walking past. For whatever reason, I stopped in my tracks and told the man ( Mark ) that yes I did, but, I didn’t think that he and God had any time to worry about me, or something along those lines. Mark then asked if I prayed and that if I did, did I believe that God would answer them, to which I replied along the lines of ‘ Sure, whenever he feels like it.’ Long story short, from that point on I started meeting with Mark and a group of people who became very good friends who were very sharp on the Word of God. I got so into God’s Word that it became my number 1 priority, even after I did find a part-time job. That is when I consider one of my first major prayers in my adult life as having been answered. I’ll tell you about that at some other time because that 1st time all by itself lays down solid proof of the power of prayer. My walk with God and the things that I was learning got me to the point that in many cases, I would not even have to pray for certain situations to be resolved. All that I had to do was to just think about what I needed God to do, and it came to pass rapidly. That’s the power of our God! So what happened to my walk? Bad things.
I can most certainly vouch for the truth and accuracy of the above verse, and the end result is not a pretty picture.
