Hebrews 6:4-6

Hebrews 6:4-6
  (4)  It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, (5)who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, (6)if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because[b]to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.

Here is my experience with this.

I've had my 'falling away' a few years back and have actually just started trying to 'come home' in the past year or so. The above verse has always bothered me. If it is impossible for me to be brought back to repentance, then why am I wasting my time trying to get right with God again? For the most part, it has seemed as if it were impossible.

After studying more of this scripture, I can tell you that it is not impossible!

Hbr 6:4-6 "For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened," etc. Nothing is impossible with God; but God works by means, and the persons here alluded to are confirmed apostates, who, having abandoned for ever all the means of grace, have cut themselves off from all the hopes of glory.

Luk 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Luk 18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

With God all things are possible. So, you can rest assured that getting near to the Father can be done no matter how much 'backsliding' has occurred. It may seem impossible to you because the devil is going to do his best to keep you away from God and His goodness!

Now go forth and claim your rightful standing again!
