God's Promises To Us

"We're not changed by the promises we make to God, but the promises he makes to us."              Author Unknown

Many of us have found out the hard way that making promises to God does not work because we usually end up not being able to keep those promises. A promise is only as good as the one that is doing the promising and it is most certainly not the right thing to do when it comes to keeping your word with God. We are flesh and therefore have no right to promise God anything. WE do not know what the next day much less the next minute, is going to bring us.  Don't make promises to God when you know that their is no way that you can keep them.

We know that when God makes a promise to his people, that it is carried out. We will use Abraham as an example.

In Genesis 12, God promised Abraham that God would 12:2  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:         (KJV)

Abraham was smart enough to know that when God said that he would do something, it would be done! Abraham, at God's Word, packed up his things and left everything behind because he had trust in the Word of God.

How certain are God's promises? The Apostle Paul, when talking to the church at Rome concerning God's promises to Abraham :

Rom 4:13
For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, [was] not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.                                                                                                          Rom 4:16
Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,                                   (KJV)

Act 13:32
And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,
Act 13:33
God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.      (KJV)

God's promises to us:

1) Phl 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

That would be food, clothing, shelter, companionship, love, and salvation thru Jesus Christ. That would not be a mansion, Ferrari and other things that we have come to believe are needs.

2) God has promised that His grace is sufficient for us.  2Cr 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Eph 2:8 , Rom 5:2

3) God has promised that His children will not be overtaken with temptation

1Cr 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].

Jud 1:24 , Dan 6:16

4) God promises us victory over death. That would be eternal life!

Act 2:32
This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

1Cr 15:57
But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

5) Rom 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.

This is sometimes hard for us to see but God said it would be done and God will deliver!

6)  God promised that if we believe in Jesus and are baptized for the forgiveness of sins will be saved . Mar 16:16 and Act 2:38

7) God promised His people eternal life!

Jhn 10:27
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Jhn 10:28
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] pluck them out of my hand.    All from (KJV)

So let's get with the program and get it together with God, who loves  all of us more than we could ever imagine! After all, God is OUR Father!
