Giving Thanks To God

There are many of us Christians who do not give thanks to God for all of the things which He has done for us or for providing for us on a daily basis.

We should be thanking God for everyday that we wake in the morning, for the food that we have placed on our tables, for our good health and for many others. We should thank Him for all that He has done, is doing and will do for us as His children.

Paul tells us about giving thanks in the New Testament.

Colossians 1:3

Grace be to you and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you.

Colossians 1:12-14

12)  Giving thanks to God the Father, who hath made us worthy to be partakers of the lot of the saints in light:
13)  Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness and hath translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love,
14) In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins

2 Corinthians 1:3,4

3) Blessed [be] God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;                                                      4)Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

We are commanded to give God praise and thanksgiving.

Hebrews 13:15

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of [our] lips giving thanks to his name.

1 Thessalonions 5:17,18

17) Pray without ceasing.                                                                              18 ) In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Philippians 4:6,7

6) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.                  7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
